Hello there,

I guess you stumbled upon my blog, maybe by accident, maybe by following a link or maybe some weirdo just forced you to check it out (in that case high five to that weirdo!).

Me

First of all let me tell you a bit about myself !

When I was a kid, I loved what we may call: “Creepy Crawlies”.

What a coincidence you might say ?

And every kid has a dream job, do you want to know what mine was ? I wanted to be a professional insect farmer.

Now that’s what I call unusual !

Believe me or not, it was not easy to get there. Years passed, I got bored at school and I felt like I was going nowhere.

Until one day, my mum and I found ourselves watching a TV show on edible insects. We looked into each other’s eyes, and immediately knew that was exactly what I wanted to do : Breeding insects for human consumption.

We rushed to the pet store, got a small box of mealworms, and that was it. This is where the adventure begins !

I then sadly realised, there is still a difference between having my sock drawers full of mealworms and actually gaining money from insect keeping.

Mealworms

You might not know it yet, but I’m kind of an adventurer, and living my daily life was getting kind of dull. I would go to High School but nothing would bring me closer to my dream job, so I decided to take my own path. I quit school before graduating, I started working a little in the hope of saving enough to fly off to Thailand and start new over there.

But eventually I got in contact with l’Opie (Office pour les insectes et leur environnement), a French association who protects insects. I was first taken in as an intern for 2 months, and fortunately for me the previous insect farmer left so I was offered a job as you can guess and I took it.

So, since that day, I have been a professional insect farmer. The slight difference to my initial project is that these bugs are used for educational purposes and not for human consumption. We sell the bugs to schools so they can keep them as pets and learn all about them in class.

You

The question you might be asking yourself is : Why am I here ?

Well if you’re here it’s that you are probably interested in Creepy Crawlies like I am, that’s a good start.

In that case, I have some good news for you. I am actually here, to help you !

With my experience, I have come to know how to keep and breed a lot of weird creatures people usually don’t appreciate in the first place, so good information might be hard to come about.

What would you say, if I told you I am going to share my experience with you ?

Stay tuned to learn more about keeping insectes and other strange creatures you might never have thought of !

    1. Hi, this all depends on where you live.
You should start with medium locusts or adults, you can usually buy them at your local petstore or on the internet !

If you tell me which country you’re from I might be able to help you further 🙂
